It takes minimal insight to be able to truly understand and appreciate the underlying messages this book is conveying, so if you are looking for an easy and simple story this is not for you, because you very well may just see horrifying depictions of a dystopian world. It is exactly what people would believe is a good thing! It is disturbing because it makes you realize how easy people can be swayed into thinking that something that is really a cruel practice is perfectly safe and morally correct. in my opinion, the reason it is scary is because it's so realistic. The book is not gory nor descriptive, and while the idea of being "unwound" may be disturbing, it is a clean, safe, painless process.

Neal Shusterman really displayed the concept of society in a very understandable and entertaining way through extremes. A truly thoughtful and inspirational book about the flaws of society.
